Take in an M’s game, support kids in need

PORT ANGELES — Enjoy the Seattle Mariners-Houston Asros baseball game at T-Mobile Park July 20 and a portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Clallam County Shop With a Hero program.

Shop With a Hero started in 2020 to support children in foster care receiving social services benefits from partner agencies.The event, hosted at Port Angeles Wal-Mart, pairs children with area law enforcement or first responders, allowing them to shop for themselves or their families along with gift wrapping, hot chocolate and photos with Santa Claus.

Tickets are $63, with $10 from sales directed to the Port Angeles Police Association and Friends of Clallam County Child Advocates, the nonprofit organizations that manage the program..

Available sections include 110-112, 114 and 116, all field level seats along the right-field line in foul ball territory.

The program is organized by current and former members of the Port Angeles Police Department, Lower Elwha Police Department, Clallam County Juvenile and Family Services and Friends of Clallam County Child Advocates.

Rumble on the Ridge

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for Rumble on the Ridge, a 3-on-3 men’s basketball tournament fundraiser for the Port Angeles Roughrider boys.

The tournament will be held at the high school May 3-4.

Teams will have a four-game guarantee with pool play Saturday and single elimination set Sunday.

The cost is $300 per team and winners will receive championship sweatshirts with runner-ups getting T-shirts.

Two-on-Two hoops

LA PUSH — A Kings & Queens of the Court 2-on-2 coed basketball tournament will be held at the Akalat Gym, 1 Bayak Loop, on May 30-June 1.

The tournament is open to all players of high school age.

Awards will be given.

The entry fee is $300.

JeffCo soccer

PORT TOWNSEND — Registration is open through March 21 for Jefferson County Parks and Recreation’s spring coed youth soccer season for children in pre-Kindergarten through seventh grade.

Fees are $65 and include a T-shirt.

Practices will start April 7 and the league will wrap in mid-June.

A coaches’ meeting for all levels will be held at the Port Townsend Rec Center, 620 Tyler St., at 5:30 p.m. April 2.
