Area Briefs: Fun Color Run in Sequim; Men’s soccer tryouts Saturday

Fun Color Run scheduled for March 6

SEQUIM — Registration remains open for the city of Sequim’s Sun Fun Color Run, set for Saturday, March 6, at Carrie Blake Community Park.

The event has 5-kilometer and 1K races, as well as a virtual option.

The 5K run/walk is set for 9 a.m., and the 1K is at 1 p.m. Virtual runners/walkers can participate on their own time.

Courses are an out-and-back on the Olympic Discovery Trail for the 5K and around Carrie Blake Community Park for the 1K.

The 5K is timed and includes five colors and eight color blast stations; the 1K is not timed and includes three colors and three blast stations.

Cost is $35 for the 5K, $15 for the 1K and $30 for the virtual run through Sunday; prices increase Monday.

Fee includes a Sun Fun Color Run T-shirt and run buff, finisher medal, race bib, sunglasses from Rudd Orthodontics and starting line color blast bag with various colors.

Virtual packets will be available for pickup the first week of March; registrations will receive an email with packet pickup details.

Men’s soccer tryouts

SEQUIM — Northern Peninsula Football Club, a semipro men’s soccer team, will hold tryouts at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Albert Haller Playfields, 500 N. Blake Ave., in Sequim.

Players will pay a $20 tryout fee. All players need to wear masks.

Baseball, softball

PORT ANGELES — Registration for the upcoming North Olympic Baseball and Softball seasons is underway at www.nobas.org.

A drive-through registration event also will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hi Tech Electronics parking lot, 723 E. Front St.

This event is intended for those who are having trouble signing up online or who need to drop off the $5 registration fee.

Attendees are asked to stay in their vehicle with masks on and drive through for assistance.
