AMERICAN LEGION: Wilder Sr. swept by first-place Lakeside Recovery

BELLEVUE — Wilder Sr. has been pretty dominant all season long, but ran into a buzzsaw in a Lakeside Recovery AAA team, losing a doubleheader Saturday at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue 13-8 and 14-1.

In the 14-1 game, Lakeside pitcher Preston Crockett, who pitches at 4A Issaquah High School, pitched a one-hitter over five innings.

Wyatt Hall had Wilder Sr.’s lone hit. Jacob Felton scored a run and stole two bases. He got on base with a walk and by being hit by a pitch.

John Vaara took the loss for Wilder Sr. Kole Acker only gave up one earned run in 2⅓ innings to finish the game.

The second game was much more competitive as Wilder Sr.’s bats came alive with 10 hits. The difference came down to a five-run fifth inning by Lakeside that opened up a 12-7 lead.

Luke Olson went 3-for-4 with a double, scoring a run and driving in two. Hall went 2-for-3 with a run scored, two RBIs and a walk, while Adam Watkins was 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk.

Felton had a hit, an RBI, a walk and three runs scored.

Landon Seibel took the loss in this game. He struck out for batters in 4⅓ innings. Trey Baysinger struck out two batters in the sixth.

Lakeside Recovery is the top team in the AAA Area 1 American Legion league. They have beaten their league opponents by a cumulative score of 52-10, with eight of those runs in Wilder Sr.’s second game Saturday.

The sweep puts Wilder Sr. at 2-2 in league, while Lakeside Recovery is in first place at 4-0.

Wilder Sr. played Sunday at Bellingham Post No. 7 in Bellingham. They play a doubleheader against Post No. 7 today, again in Bellingham.

Wilder Jr. went on a road trip this weekend, playing a doubleheader at Stanwood and another doubleheader at Blaine/Lynden on Sunday.

Wilder Sr. and Wilder Jr. both have a slew of home games during the Fourth of July holiday. Wilder Sr. will host the Dick Brown Memorial Tournament from July 1-4 at Civic Field, while Wilder Jr. will play Riverdogs and Kitsap at Volunteer Field on July 2, 3 and 4.
