AMERICAN LEGION: Wilder Sr. gets great pitching in pair of wins

MOUNT VERNON — Wilder Sr. won its opening two games at the Nate Steffens Baseball Tournament in Mount Vernon behind outstanding pitching in both games.

Wilder Sr. allowed just four hits and two runs combined in the pair of victories. The Olympic Peninsula club won Saturday 8-1 in a combined two-hitter over the Rival Baseball Club and 9-1 in five innings over the Laces Baseball Academy in a complete-game two-hitter from Adam Watkins.

The winner Saturday was Logan Olson, though he was a bit wild. Olson gave up just one hit in three innings, but walked five while striking out two. Seth Woods went 2â…“ innings, allowing a run on no hits and three walks, while Conner Bear finished up, going 1â…” and allowing one hit.

At the plate, Landon Seibel hit a home run. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jacob Felton returned to the lineup with his hot bat, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Trey Baysinger was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs, while Wyatt Hall was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

In Friday’s game, Watkins went the entire way, allow two hits and two walks. He struck out three. The Laces’ lone run was unearned.

At the plate, Hall had a big game, going 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Baysinger also went 3-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs. Ty Bradow was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Felton and Olson each had a hit and two runs scored.

Wilder Sr. continues at the Mount Vernon tournament this weekend.
