PORT ANGELES — Wilder Sr. had its second straight close loss Sunday morning to wrap up the Dick Brown Firecracker memorial tournament, twice rallying from deficits, but eventually falling 6-5 to Excelsior.
Wilder Sr. went 1-3 in the tournament, though they were competitive in all four games and could’ve easily won three of them.
On Sunday, the senior team was down 5-3 entering the bottom of the fifth, but tied it on a two-run single by Brayden Hagerty, who also started the game and pitched well. Excelsior was able to get a run home on a ground ball out in the sixth and made it hold up for the rest of the game.
Hagerty went six innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs while striking out eight. Kaleb Mullen pitched the seventh, allowing no hits and striking out two.
Luke Flodstrom and Elijah Flodstrom each went 2-for-3, while Tanner Jacobson had a hit and an RBI. Conner Bear had a hit and two runs scored.

Saturday’s game
Wilder Sr. took WBS Colts Red to eight innings, but the Colts rallied with a four-run eighth to win 11-7.
Wilder Sr. had a rally of its own in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs to tie the game at 7-all. Wilder Sr. got its first run in the first inning without the benefit of a hit, getting runners on with a dropped third strike and two walks. Tate Alton collected an RBI when he was hit by a pitch. Brayden Hagerty then followed up with a two-run single to tie the game up.
Wilder Sr. was hurt by a pair of errors in the top of the eighth which helped allow the Colts’ big inning.
Alton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Hagerty was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two stolen bases. Alex Angevine had a hit and a walk and scored two runs.
Wilder Sr. pitchers allowed just five earned runs. Brian Guttormsen pitched 3â…“ innings, allowing one hit and striking out one. Colton Romero took the hard-luck loss, going two innings and allowing one hit. He struck out one.
Wilder Sr. (9-13) next plays Thursday at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue against the Narrows 18U Select team.
