SELAH — The Wilder Senior Baseball Club is in the state AAA semifinals after riding an eight-run sixth inning while beating Lakeside Legion 11-2 in the tournament quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Wilder Junior made it to the quarterfinals in the state AA tournament in Spokane, but was eliminated after two straight losses.
Wilder Senior played the Mount Spokane Wild late Tuesday after press deadline. If the seniors win that game, they will play in the state championship at 1 p.m. today with possibly another game at 4 p.m. today against either the KB Bagpipers or Yakima Pepsi Pak.
It’s another remarkable run for the seniors’ team that has already won the Pacific Northwest Senior Babe Ruth championship, qualifying for the senior Babe Ruth tournament in Ocala, Fla.
Wilder Senior (32-8-1) went into the sixth inning Monday night down 2-0, but sent 13 batters to the plate in the sixth, pounding out eight hits to go with two walks and a sacrifice fly. Colton Romero, who had a huge game, had a double and a single in the inning.
Romero finished 4-for-5 with a run scored, two RBIs and two doubles.
Alex Angevine got the complete-game victory. He went seven innings, spread out nine hits, allowed two walks and two earned runs. He struck out six.
At the plate, Angevine was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, a run scored and a sac fly.
Lincoln Bear and Jordan Shumway were each 2-for-4, while Luke Flodstrom was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

SPOKANE — Wilder Junior (25-8-2) was eliminated from the AA state tournament after losing to the Stanwood Cannons 15-9 on Tuesday. Wilder Junior also lost to the Yakima Valley Peppers 6-4 late Monday.
If the juniors had won Tuesday, they would have been in the state semifinals. They got off to a good start against the Cannons, getting ahead 5-1 after the first inning. But the juniors allowed six runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth as the Cannons built up a big lead of 14-5 at one point.
Hunter Tennell finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Carston Seibel was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Easton Fisher was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs, while Bryce Deleon was 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs. Zach DeBray was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Tennell pitched 2â…” innings, allowing three hits and one earned run.
In Monday’s loss to the Peppers, the juniors were again hurt by a big inning. They went into the sixth inning up 4-2, but Yakima took the lead for good with a four-run sixth.
Ian Smithson was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base, while Fisher hit a triple and Tennell was 1-for-2 with a walk and three stolen bases.
Ethan Swenson pitched the entire game, going six innings and allowing six hits and five earned runs. He struck out three and walked four.
