AMERICAN LEGION: Wilder Senior falters late in nine-inning loss

Olson strikes out six

PORT ANGELES — Wilder Senior held a 4-3 lead midway through a nine-inning American Legion baseball game against Seattle Select but couldn’t hang on in the later innings for the win Monday evening at Civic Field.

Shortstop Wyatt Hall led Wilder Senior at the plate, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Leadoff hitter and center fielder Jake Felton singled and scored, and Sequim’s Connor Bear also drove in a run and came home to score in the contest.

Adam Watkins doubled and later scored, and Forks’ Trey Baysinger also doubled for Wilder Senior.

Forks’ Logan Olson played well at the plate and on the mound for Wilder Senior, going 2 for 4 at the plate and allowing one run on one hit while striking out six in three innings of relief for starter John Vaara.

Wilder Senior (9-3) will travel to face a familiar foe in Lakeside AAA on Saturday with a doubleheader set to start at 4 p.m. at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.

Wilder will then head north to Bellingham for games against Post No. 7 on Sunday and Monday.
