CLACKAMAS, Ore. — Wilder was within one inning on winning on Sunday, but Tualatin rallied with three runs in the seventh inning to pull out a 3-1 win over the Washington visitors.
Wilder’s Timmy Adams pitched an outstanding game going into the seventh, taking a shutout into the final inning.
As Wilder clung to a 1-0 lead, Tualatin rallied with a lot of small-ball, getting a single, a fielder’s choice, a bunt and a sac fly to score a run. After Seth Scofield came in to pitch, Tualatin scored another run on a walk and its third run on a passed ball.
Adams went 6 1/3 innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out four and walked two. Scofield went 2/3 of an inning and struck out one and walked one with no hits allowed.
Wilder scored its run in the third inning on an RBI single by Milo Whitman. He drove in Ethan Flodstrom, who had walked earlier in the inning and moved to second after Bo Bradow was hit by a pitch.
Whitman finished the game 2 for 3. Tyler Bowen hit a double, while Flodstrom and Bradow had singles.
Wilder (15-7, 12-2) went 2-2 at the Clackamas Tournament. The team returns to Washington to play at Bellingham Post No. 7 (4-10) on Wednesday. That is a doubleheader and if Wilder sweeps, they will claim the undisputed title of the NW Area 1 American Legion AAA League. A split and Wilder ties for the league championship with Lakeside.
