AMERICAN LEGION: Wilder Junior sweeps, extends winning streak to 13

PORT ANGELES — Wilder Junior stretched its winning streak to an impressive 13 games with a 14-6, 11-7 sweep over the Kingston Kings at Civic Field on Saturday.

With the sweep, Wilder Junior improved its record to 18-4. The juniors have not lost since June 8.

The juniors tallied 23 hits in the doubleheader with 14 of them coming in the opening win. Carson Waddell had the biggest day, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Zach DeBray was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Carston Seibel was 2-for-3 with two run scored.

Hunter Tennell hit a double, scored a run and drove in three.

Wilder Junior pitchers allowed just three hits in the opening game. Owen Leitz went four innings, allowing two hits and three earned runs. He struck out three. Logan Doyle went three innings, allowing one hit and three earned runs. He struck out two.

In the second game, eight members of the juniors had hits and the team stole a total of 13 bases. Parker Pavlak was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.

Seibel had a double, three stolen bases, a run scored and an RBI. Tennell had another double, scored a run and drove in a run. Ethan Swenson had a hit and two runs driven in.

On the mound, Tennell went four innings, allowed six hits and three earned runs. He struck out five. Bryce Deleon went 1â…” innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.

For the Kingston Kings, Quilcene’s Eli Allen had a double and a run scored in the second game.

Wilder Junior next plays a doubleheader in Purdy against the Wollochet Baseball Club at noon and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, then plays a doubleheader against the NW Blaze 18U in Silverdale at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 13.
