AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Wilder Sr. sweeps two from Kitsap Rebels

Pitchers allow just seven hits in two games

PORT ANGELES — The Wilder Senior Baseball Club got outstanding pitching in dominating the Kitsap Rebels in a drizzly doubleheader Sunday at Civic Field.

Wilder beat Kitsap 7-0 in the early game and 11-1 in the nightcap, out-hitting the Rebels 27-7 in the two games. Adam Watkins started Game 1, going four innings and giving up two hits while walking one and striking out three. John Vaara and Landon Seibel combined to finish the shutout over the final three innings, giving up one hit and one walk. Vaara struck out two more.

At the plate, Wyatt Hall hit a triple and went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Logan Olson went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases, while Trey Baysinger went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Kamron Meadows also hit a double and had a run scored while Seth Woods had a pair of hits.

In Game 2, Jacob Felton went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Seibel hit a triple with a run scored and an RBI, while Meadows went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Michael Grubb had a hit and three runs scored.

Olson and Hall combined on a four-hitter. Olson went the first three innings, striking out four and allowing an earned run on three hits. Hall went the final three innings, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out one.

The sweep gives Wilder a 7-2 record on the season. The club next plays Saturday, again versus the Kitsap Rebels, this time at Central Kitsap High School.
