AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Wilder sets tryout schedule

PORT ANGELES — Tryouts are set later this month for the original Olympic Peninsula boys of summer, Wilder Baseball Club’s American Legion program.

Wilder will once again field three separate squads this summer, A-ball and Double-A teams for ages 13-15 and Triple-A for senior players ages 16-19.

Regular season and league play qualify teams for state postseason tournaments, and Wilder Senior manager Zac Moore said Port Angeles will serve as the host for the Single-A state tournament in late July, bringing up to seven full teams plus families to the area.

“We are excited to start the season and offer more of a regular schedule,” Moore said. “We are jam-packed with games for all three teams, we have the Dick Brown tournament here June 30 to July 3 for our senior club and the A state tournament is here.”

The Triple-A Wilder Senior tryouts are set for the Civic Field diamond from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 23-26.

Tryouts for the Double-A and Single-A squads will be held at Volunteer Field on May 28-29 with a 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. tryout time for players age 15 and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for ages 13-14.

Players should bring all necessary gear and equipment to each tryout.

The club is open to players in Jefferson, Clallam and Kitsap counties.

Players needing financial assistance are encouraged to try out. Scholarship assistance is provided.

For more information, call or text Moore at 360-461-2342.
