ALL OLYMPIC LEAGUE BASEBALL: Trio of Roughriders make first team

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughriders trio of Kole Acker, Alex Angevine and Elijah Flodstrom led the way with area all-league baseball selection, as all three made the Olympic League’s first team.

The trio got named for three different roles. Acker was a pitcher and infielder for the Roughriders, while Flodstrom was an outfielder and pitcher and Angevine was the starting shortstop as a sophomore. Acker and Flodstrom were both seniors.

Making the second team were Port Angeles infielder Josiah Gooding, Roughrider outfielder Jordan Shumway, and Sequim utility player Zeke Schmadeke and pitcher Toppy Robideau.

The league MVP was North Kitsap pitcher Noah Sorensen, a junior who has already committed to Pac-12 baseball power Oregon State.

Also named to the sportsmanship team was Port Angeles’ Tanner Jacobsen and Sequim’s Ayden Holland.

Both teams qualified for district. Sequim finished the season at 11-10, while the Roughriders qualified for the 2A state tournament and finished with a record of 15-7-1. Bainbridge, which had an 18-0 regular-season record, had six players named to the All-Olympic First Team.

Angevine, Flodstrom and Gooding are all playing for the Wilder Senior Baseball Club during the summer while Acker is playing for the Port Angeles Lefties.

Flodstrom was also named the MVP of the Olympic League All-Senior game played earlier this week.
