ALL LEAGUE VOLLEYBALL: Sequim’s Kendall Hastings Olympic League offensive player of the year

PORT ANGELES — Sequim front-line force Kendall Hastings was named the Olympic League’s offensive volleyball player of the year this year.

Hastings, a middle hitter who usually led the Wolves in kills and blocks each match, helped lead Sequim to a second-place finish in the Olympic League. Hastings also received the sportsmanship award for Sequim.

Her teammate Jolene Vaara, listed as a setter though she was a versatile player, made the all-league team along with Wolves’ middle hitter Arianna Stovall. Port Angeles outside hitter Lily Halberg and setter Josephine Edgington also made the all-league team. Halberg was additionally named as the Port Angeles sportsmanship winner.

Making the honorable mention team were Port Angeles libero Cindy Liang and middle hitter Ava Hairell. Sequim’s Angel Wagner, an outside hitter, and Sammie Bacon, an outside hitter, also made the honorable mention team.

The most valuable player was setter Sophia Baugh of North Kitsap, while libero Emma Pendleton of Bainbridge was named the defensive player of the year.
