ALL-LEAGUE SOFTBALL: 13 Sequim, Port Angeles players make all-league teams

PORT ANGELES — Sequim placed five girls on the All-Olympic League first team, while Port Angeles placed two players.

The Roughriders, who finished second at the West Central District 2/3 tournament and are playing in the state 2A tournament Friday, got five players on the All Olympic second team. Seven out of their 10 starters made either the first or second team. Six out of 10 made it for Sequim.

Making the first team were Sequim pitcher Lainey Vig, infielders Taylee Rome and Hannah Bates, outfielder Mia Pozernick and utility player Lexi King.

Making the first team for Port Angeles were infielder Natalie Robinson and outfielder Lily Halberg.

Named to the second team were Riders’ pitcher Cheyenne Zimmer, catcher Abby Kimball, infielder Taylor Worthington, outfielder Ava-Anne Sheahan and utility player Heidi Leitz. Sequim catcher Michaela Green also made second team.

Port Angeles’ Ali Money was named to the all-sportsmanship team, as was Sequim’s Sammie Bacon.

The Roughriders have gone 17-5 so far this season and finished second in the Olympic League at 10-4. The Wolves finished fourth at 9-5 and went 11-8 overall.

North Kitsap, which is 21-0, won the league and district championships and is ranked No. 1 in the state. The Vikings got six players total named to the league’s first and second teams, plus the league Most Valuable Player was pitcher Reese Anderson.

Olympic, which is also playing at the state 2A tournament, had six players named to the first and second teams.
