PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles and Sequim dominated the selections for the Olympic League Class 2A All-League girls basketball teams.
The league champion Roughrider girls, who were an undefeated 12-0 in league, landed three players on the all-league first team, while the second-place Wolves placed two players on the first team.
Port Angeles juniors Millie Long and Jaida Wood along with sophomore Eve Burke all made the first team, while Sequim junior Jayla Julmist and senior Hope Glasser also made first team.
North Kitsap’s Grace Johnson rounded out the first team, while Vikings’ senior Noey Barreith was named the Olympic League 2A MVP.
Long won the Olympic League 2A MVP as a freshman.
Port Angeles girls’ coach Michael Poindexter, who has battled health issues all season, was named the 2A girls coach of the year, while the 1A coach of the year was Chris Koebelin of Klahowya.
Riders’ senior Mikkiah Brady and Sequim junior Kalli Wiker made the second team.
Also making the second team was Mia McNair, a former Chimacum player who now plays for North Kitsap. They are joined by Elle Brockman of Kingston and Sophie Green of North Mason.
The Port Angeles boys also did well with the selection. For the boys, Port Angeles seniors Anton Kathol and Gary Johnson made the first team, while fellow Riders sophomore Chase Cobb and senior Damen Ringgold made the second team. Sequim junior Erik Christiansen also made the second team.
Rounding out the first team were North Kitsap’s Logan Chmielewski and Shae Humphrey and Bremerton’s D’Angelo Moore. The Olympic League 2A MVP was Kobe McMillian of North Kitsap.
Also making the boys’ second team were North Kitsap’s Jonas LaTour and John Olmsted.
1A teams
Port Townsend seniors Noa Montoya and Aiden Petta along with sophomore Lonnie Kenney were first-team selections at the 1A level.
Joining them are Klahowya’s Presten Roberts and Matt Hytiven on the first team. Drew Kraft of Klahowya was the Olympic League 1A MVP.
Because the 1A is a small league with three teams, there is just a first team all-league.
Making the Olympic League 1A all-league girls’ team was Port Townsend’s Mackenzie Lake and Izzy Hammett, and Chimacum’s Katie Clark. Joining them are Maile Lueck and Katie Cooper of Klahowya. The league MVP was Ella Koebelin of Klahowya.
A player from each team was also recognized for sportsmanship. For the Port Angeles boys, it was Ringgold, while for the Port Angeles girls, it was Brady. For the Sequim boys, it was Christensen and for the Sequim girls, it was Julmist.
For the Port Townsend boys, Montoya won the sportsmanship award, while for the Chimacum boys, it was Tanner Carstensen. For the Port Townsend girls, Faye Berry was awarded for her sportsmanship and for Chimacum, it was Clark.
