NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay 1B state football semifinal game today against Liberty Bell will be streamed.
The game from the Wenatchee Apple Bowl Stadium will begin at 1 p.m. It appears there are multiple websites that will carry the game.
People wanting to watch the game can go online to watch it for free on Hudl at www.tinyurl.com/NeahBaysemifinal. Coach TJ Greene said the WIAA gave its permission to Neah Bay to stream the game. Or, people can watch with a subscription at the NFHS Network at www.tinyurl.com/NeahBaySemi.
The game will be a battle of 1B powerhouses. Neah Bay (9-2), winners of nine straight, is in the semifinals for the second straight year. Liberty Bell, which beat Neah Bay in the 1B state championship game last year and in the opening game of the season this year way back in early September, is the defending state champion and is undefeated at 8-0. In fact, Liberty Bell, out of Winthrop, has won 15 games in a row dating back to last season.
The Mountain Lions have outscored their opponents 498-175 this year for an average of 62.25 points per game. That includes a 50-24 win over Neah Bay.
The Red Devils, over their past nine games, have outscored their opponents 596-136 for an average of 66.2 points per game.
Neah Bay’s big one-two punch is the running back tandem of Jodell Wimberley and Tyler Swan. Wimberley, a speedster, has 1,713 yards rushing on 157 carries with 35 touchdowns — an average of 10.9 yards a carry and 190.3 yards a game. He did all that despite missing two games early.
Swan, more of a punishing runner, has 1,026 yards on 101 carries with 22 touchdowns — an average of 10.2 yards per carry and 93.3 yards per game.
Liberty Bell counters with the Paz siblings. Lucien Paz, the quarterback, has completed 81-of-136 passes this season for 1,390 yards and 28 touchdown passes, with another 707 yards rushing and 13 TDs. Running back Remington Paz has 778 yards rushing on just 61 carries (a 12.8 per carry average) for 11 touchdowns, and 39 receptions for 768 yards and another 19 touchdowns.
Last year, Liberty Bell beat Neah Bay 50-12 in the state 1B championship game.
