Youth urged to create at Port Angeles library

PORT ANGELES — Free Lego Junior Maker programs are planned at the Port Angeles Library from 10 a.m. to noon four upcoming Saturdays.

The programs will be this coming Saturday, Jan. 21, Feb. 18 and March 18 in the living room of the library at 2210 S. Peabody St.

Library staff will encourage participants to write stories about their Lego creations, which will be photographed during the program.

Parents or caregivers are asked to accompany all children younger than 8. All materials will be provided. Lego bricks and creations will remain in the library at the conclusion of each program.

“Building with Lego bricks is a fun, engaging way to foster community and support literacy development,” said Jennifer Knight, Port Angeles Youth Services librarian.

“We love hands-on programs like this at the library where we can step back and let the kids create.”

The library’s Lego brick collection was built with the support of the North Olympic Library Foundation, the Port Angeles Friends of the Library, the Girl Scout Troop of Western Washington and brick donations from library patrons.

To make a Lego brick donation to the library, contact Knight at jknight@nols.org or call 360-417-8500, ext. 7733.
