To the People of Port Angeles:
As a firm believer in open government, I support the rights of the citizens to know the facts.
On June 15th I asked for an open meeting to discuss the issues that have led to unfounded innuendo and speculation.
There are vague references in Mr. Madsen’s memos that have caused concern on the part of some citizens and business leaders.
Some of this was directed to me.
I would like to address this so we can move forward.
I did nothing to cause any action to be taken, and I take full responsibility for my actions.
I was saddened and disappointed to read the memos and resignation from city manager Mark Madsen in the PDN.
No one broke the law.
According to City Attorney Bill Bloor and Chief Terry Gallagher, there was no inappropriate contact with police on the part of any council member.
They have found no facts that support even the suspicion of a criminal offense having been committed.
