PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was treated and discharged from Olympic Medical Center after a wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Shore Road.
The collision, located between Port Angeles and Sequim, blocked the left westbound lane between 4:19 p.m. and 8:37 p.m. Thursday, state Department of Transportation officials said.
William Douglas Muse, 36, of Port Angeles was traveling westbound when the 2002 Volkswagen Golf he was driving made an abrupt lane change, lost control and spun counterclockwise toward the median, the State Patrol said.
The car struck the median, rolled and came to a rest facing east in a westbound turn lane, troopers said in a collision memo.
A passenger, Allen Kent Golesh, 45, of Port Angeles, was transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles after the wreck.
He was treated and discharged, OMC spokeswoman Bobby Beeman said Friday morning.
Muse and two other passengers — Justin Laurence Woodie, 45, Port Angeles and Tyler Dwayne Philp, 20, of Spokane — were injured but did not require hospitalization, troopers said.
Troopers determined that the cause of the wreck was an unsafe lane change.
Muse was charged with second-degree negligent driving, the State Patrol said.
A 2008 Toyota Prius driven by Byron John Will, 63, of Portland, Ore., was damaged by rocks kicked up by the Volkswagen when it entered the median, the State Patrol said.
Will and a passenger, Cheryl Marie Will, 71, also of Portland, were not injured, troopers said.
All six people involved in the wreck were wearing seat belts.
Drugs or alcohol were not involved, troopers said.
