Worldwide productions to beam into Port Townsend’s Rose Theatre

PORT TOWNSEND — A new season of plays, ballets and operas from London, New York City and even Moscow’s Bolshoi stage begins as the performances are broadcast via satellite onto the movie screen at the relatively tiny Rose Theatre, 235 Taylor St.

Tickets are available now for these shows at the Rose, either at the box office or www.RoseTheatre.com.

National Theatre of London

Show time is 11 a.m., with tickets at $20 for general admission, $18 for seniors and $16 for students and children. The lineup:

■ “A Streetcar Named Desire,” Oct. 4, 5, 8 and 12, with Gillian Anderson and Ben Foster in the Young Vic Theatre’s fastest-selling show.

■   “Medea,” Oct. 19 and 25, starring Helen McCrory in a new version by Ben Power.

■   “Skylight,” Nov. 2 and 8, with Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy; written by David Hare and directed by Stephen Daldry.

■   “John,” Jan. 10 and 18, a new production from the DV8 Physical Theatre, suitable for ages 18 and older.

■   “Treasure Island,” Feb. 15 and 21, a new stage adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s story of murder, money and mutiny. Suitable for ages 10 and older.

Metropolitan Opera HD Live Series

Curtain times for these simulcasts from New York City vary from 9 a.m. to 9:55 a.m.

Tickets run $24 for general admission, $22 for seniors and $16 for students and children.

■   Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro,” a new production, Oct. 18;

■   Bizet’s “Carmen,” Nov. 1;

■   “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” Nov. 22;

■   Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg,” Dec. 13;

■   Lehar’s “The Merry Widow,” a new production, Jan. 17;

■   Offenbach’s “Le Contes d’Hoffmann,” Jan. 31;

■   Tchaikovsky’s “Iolanta/Duke Bluebeard’s Castle,” a new production, Feb. 14;

■   Rossini’s La Donna del Lago,” the Met premiere, March 14;

■   Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Leoncavallo: Pagliacci,” a new production, April 25.

The Bolshoi Ballet

All performances begin at 1 p.m., with tickets at $15 for general admission, $14 for seniors and $12 for students and children.

Running times range from two-and-a-half to three hours.
