Work wrapping up on Highway 112 as road serves as 101 detour

PORT ANGELES — The state Department of Transportation was wrapping up a culvert replacement project on state Highway 112 near Joyce on Monday.

Meanwhile, U.S. Highway 101 could remain closed at Lake Crescent through Thursday for rock scaling work near milepost 229, park officials said.

State highways 112 and 113 are being used as a detour during the four-day closure of Highway 101 at the lake.

Crews on Monday were busy finishing a culvert replacement project for Nordstrom Creek on Highway 112 just east of Dempsey Road.

A traffic signal is being used for one-way, alternating traffic.

“We are finishing that up today,” Transportation spokeswoman Shari King said Monday. “We may be working on it a little bit tomorrow.”

Crews were trying to complete the project as soon as possible to reopen Highway 112 to two lanes of traffic, King said.
