PORT TOWNSEND — The Wooden Boat Festival will continue today at Point Hudson Marina.
Exhibits are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a sail-by at 3:30 p.m.
National and international sailors, authors, exhibitors, presenters and boatbuilders from 12 countries are welcoming guests aboard their boats and in their seminars.
These presentations cover a wide range of information from knot tying to boat repair to tackling high seas and strong winds.
Speakers can be found several locations, including the Edensaw Woodworking Stage, the Sail Loft/Armory and Marina Room all in the historic Hudson Point area.
There are a number of opportunities for visitors to get out on the water aboard many types of crafts from rowing aboard a long boat to sailing aboard the historical Adventuress and Lady Washington.
Children’s activities include Kids’ Boatbuilding from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the Pirate Play for Families, presented by local poet and playwright Valerie Hahn, at 1 p.m.; and Captain Pirate’s Treasure Hunt at noon at the Cupola House on Point Hudson.
Other activities today:
* 10 a.m.: Learn to Sail program “Sail-by.” All El Toros, Lidos, Lasers and Cal 20s welcome to participate. Launch and finish in Point Hudson at the boat ramp.
* 3:30 p.m.: The most spectacular sailing event of the festival as nearly 200 boats cruise Port Townsend Bay to culminate the 2005 Wooden Boat Festival.
