OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK – Now is the time of plenty, as the harvest peaks.
But this is also the time to sweeten and conserve the best goods, since they will get you through the coming dark months.
Such was the shared wisdom at the Womanfest fall retreat, held last weekend at Lake Crescent’s Camp David Jr.
The event was open to all women and featured two nights and two days of food, conversation, singing and dancing – and most important, of beginning new friendships and deepening old ones.
This year, the 24th Womanfest began with a circular gathering of about 55 women from their 20s to 80-something, in which each wrote down the things she was grateful for.
Good health, family and friends came up again and again.
When one woman said she’s grateful that “Bush will be out of office soon,” the room rang with laughter.
