PORT TOWNSEND — A woman was injured today when the SUV she was driving hit ice on a curve and overturned.
The 5:30 a.m. mishap is believed to be the first reported incident involving ice during the current cold spell that began a week ago.
State Patrol troopers reported that Marilyn M. Richards, 44, of Port Townsend was southbound on state Highway 20 near Eaglemount when the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer she was driving began sliding when it was rounding a curve.
Richards reportedly overcorrected and lost control of the SUV, which slid into a ditch, overturned and rolled onto its side blocking the eastbound lane.
She was taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital for treatment of injuries, the State Patrol reported.
