FORKS — A Forks woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after she was thrown from the SUV she was driving during a wreck on U.S. Highway 101 south of Forks.
Julie M. Windle’s condition was not available from Harborview on Saturday after the Friday wreck.
Windle, 41, was driving north on Highway 101 at about 2:30 p.m. when the red 2007 Chevrolet Suburban she was driving left the road to the right near Ruby Beach Road, about 28 mile south of Forks, the State Patrol said.
The Chevy drove into a ditch, continued for about 50 feet, went over an embankment and hit a tree, the State Patrol said.
Windle, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
He said a State Patrol sergeant told him Windle was in stable condition at Harborview as of Friday afternoon.
“[The State Patrol] has gotten no word of any degrading of the condition as of [Saturday],” Winger said.
The Chevy was destroyed.
The State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the wreck, Winger said.
“We have no indication of drugs or alcohol at this point,” he said.
