Winners of ‘Lavender Weekend’ photo contest announced (** and vote in the ‘My Beautiful Backyard’ contest **)

THREE WINNERS HAVE been picked in the online “Lavender Weekend” photo contest sponsored by Sequim This Week, the free weekly newspaper for Sequim published by Peninsula Daily News.

Meanwhile, online voting is underway in a second PDN-sponsored contest, “My Beautiful Backyard.”

The three best photos — taken at last month’s two lavender festivals in Sequim — were chosen from 78 entries by online voters who cast ballots at www.sequimthisweek.com.

Laurie A. Garner of Elmira, N.Y., won first; Bonnie Collins of Port Orchard was second; Angela Bentley of Sequim was third.

The winners receive prizes, and their photographs will be published in Sequim This Week on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

The photos can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/lavenphotos.

The contest was sponsored by the Sequim Lavender Festival, Dungeness Valley Insurance/Allstate and BrokersGroup Real Estate Professionals.

Online voting for “My Beautiful Backyard” continues until noon Monday, Aug. 15.

The winners will be chosen from the three photos that get the most votes (with only one award per gardener).

Prizes will be awarded, and the three winning photos will be published in Peninsula Daily News.

To vote, go to http://tinyurl.com/pdncontest, register, view the entries and vote.

There are 124 entries vying for your vote. You can vote once per day.

The contest is sponsored by Henery’s Garden Center, Blake Tile & Stone, Inc., Hadlock Building Supply, Colette’s Bed & Breakfast and the city of Port Angeles’ Garden Glory Compost.
