Tree limbs felled by recent high winds were the likely cause of an electrical power outage that struck 1,800 Clallam County Public Utility District customers between Port Angeles and Sequim on Monday evening, a district spokesman said Tuesday.
Customers in the Mains Farm, Gales Addition and Kitchen-Dick areas experienced a power outage starting at about 8 p.m., said Mike Howe, PUD spokesman.
Power was restored at about 9:35 p.m.
District crews suspect the outage started near the Dungeness substation when multiple tree limbs ripped from trees by high winds contacted power lines, Howe said.
“We had horrendous winds [Monday] night,” Howe said
A tree felled by loggers caused a power outage that affected more than 14,000 residents of Sequim and Blyn on Monday morning, with power completely restored to all district customers by 1 p.m.
The felled tree touched a Bonneville Power Administration transmission line between the Fairmount substation in Discovery Bay and the Happy Valley substation, Howe said Monday.
