Wiccan festival slated for Fort Flager

NORDLAND — The Aquarian Tabernacle Church will host the Spring Mysteries Festival at Fort Flagler for four days beginning this coming Thursday.

The Wiccan group aims to bring the ancient Greek Eleusinian Mysteries to life.

Reservations closed Thursday — with tickets at $237 for adults and $135 for children — but the group’s website at www.spring mysteries.com says that those who want to register after Thursday can call 360-793-1945 to check on available space.

For the past 34 years, the Aquarian Tabernacle Church has hosted the festival. Like their ancient counterparts, participants are sworn to secrecy to preserve the magic of the experience, the group said.

“The Mysteries are an opportunity for people to connect with the Olympian Gods, dedicate themselves to a better, more fulfilling life and reawaken the magick within themselves,” said Archpriestess Belladonna LaVeau.

The four-day festival also includes workshops, vendors and the debut performance of a new album from New Age musician Wendy Rule.

The Aquarian Tabernacle Church is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1979. The headquarters are in Index northeast of Seattle, although affiliate congregations also exist.

As no permanent temple exists, each year the ATC transforms Fort Flagler in Nordland into the Holy City of Eleusis, the group said.
