Who’s running in Clallam County elections

PORT ANGELES – The darkest horse in the biggest race received the best post position Friday in a drawing for the order in which candidates’ names will appear on the ballot.

Port Angeles attorney Curtis G. Johnson will top a four-man field of hopefuls for Clallam County’s new Superior Court judgeship in the primary election that will end Aug. 21.

Johnson’s name will be followed on the ballot by Craig L. Miller, Brooke Taylor and Brent Basden.

The order was determined by a random drawing conducted by Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand.

Election workers wrote the name for each candidate in contested races on a slip of paper and put the slips into 35-millimeter film canisters.

Race by race, the canisters were tumbled by Rosand, who opened the canisters and read the names.
