PORT ANGELES — Police were seeking on Monday a truck and .22-caliber rifle stolen from Gray Motors on Friday.
A green 1994 Toyota pickup truck was stolen from Gray Motors Inc., 1937 E. First St., between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
A Marlin rifle was reported to have been in the truck when it was stolen, according to the Port Angeles Police Department.
The truck is used by Ernie Gray Jr., son of the owners Ernie Gray and Lori Lynn Gray, and was not a part of the dealership’s sales inventory, said Mike Smith, salesman.
The truck was described as a green 1994 Toyota 4-wheel-drive pickup with alloy wheels, tinted windows and 31-inch mud tires, a red “Strait Tek” sticker on the windshield and Washington dealer license plate 0043.
It is thought to have front-end damage because of its collision with the gate.
Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said that the truck has been spotted being driven several times since the theft, especially in the Deer Park Road area.
The thief did a “Dukes of Hazard” crash though the gate to get the truck out of the mechanics yard behind the dealership, Smith said.
The gate had not been repaired as of Monday.
Police have said the theft does not seem to be part of any pattern, and that there is no recent increase in vehicle thefts.
