PORT ANGELES – Where in the world is Gary Cohn, superintendent of the Port Angeles School District?

This week, Cohn is on a Department of Defense tour of military facilities in Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa.
Cohn’s $3,000 participation fee in the conference was not paid by the school district, said Charlie McClain, president of the Port Angeles School Board.
Wednesday, he was in Djibouti, a major African port city and home of the only American military base in sub-Saharan Africa.
He was nominated and chosen to participate in the Pentagon’s Joint Civilian Orientation Conference, a military-funded junket meant to build support among prominent leaders nationwide in the military’s presence abroad.
And this afternoon, Evan Murphy’s third grade class at Jefferson Elementary in Port Angles will test their geographic knowledge as they try to track down Cohn’s whereabouts using clues in photos posted on the DOD’s Web site. http://jcoc.dod.mil/.
