NEAH BAY — A father and son from Sequim are being credited by the Coast Guard for their efforts in saving two men off Tatoosh Island on Friday.
Allen and Glen Phillips plucked Ken Hedrich of Shelton and Timothy Troxell of Roy from the Pacific Ocean after a large, sudden wave capsized the latter men’s 20-foot boat, Coast Guard public affairs officer Lt. j.g. Kevin Barres said.
Hedrich and Troxell spent about 30 minutes in the water without life jackets, clinging to debris to stay afloat, until they were spotted by the Phillipses through the fog shortly before 3 p.m., Barres said.
Visibility at the time was less than 50 yards, Barres said.
