FORKS — Have you ever seen a donkey engine?
What about a crummy?
If not, then maybe it’s time to take the free Forks logging and mill tour run by the Forks Chamber of Commerce.
One of the things you’re likely to learn on the three-hour tour of local mills and logging sites is some logger lingo.
“A donkey engine is a logging engine with drums and cables that hauls logs from the woods,” said D’Ann Schmit, Chamber of Commerce secretary.
“And a crummy is a vehicle for getting crews to work that smells like dirty socks.”
But the tours, which had been canceled since early May, provide people with more than odd trivia answers.
