JOYCE — Since the first dinner-theater show, “It’s Not You, It’s Me” was such a success last year, the Crescent Drama Club is back with another production this Saturday night.

“Olympiaganza!,” the comedy dinner theater show directed by Ellen Menshew, will start at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Crescent School cafetorium, 50350 state Highway 112.

All tickets are $15 and will include a feast of beef lasagna, Caesar salad, cheesy bread, coffee and tea, plus the show, which Menshew said is suitable for all ages. To find out more, visit www.CrescentSchoolDistrict.org.

In “Olympiaganza!,” two battling narrators attempt to cover the entirety of Greek mythology, Menshew said.

To do this, the young performers use audience participation, cross-dressing and “general theatrical insanity.”

Creation myths such as “Pandora’s Box” and “Cronos and the Titans” jostle for space with other famous myths, like “Jason and the Argonauts,” whom Menshew calls the original “Super Friends.”

“I’m excited for the weekend,” Menshew said. “The kids are doing a great job.”

To top it all off Saturday night, the Crescent thespians will deliver a “heart-pounding, five-minute, two-actor version of ‘The Iliad,’” she added. The show will wrap up by 8:30 p.m. — but not before a dash for the desserts.

In the “Olympiaganza!” dessert auction, the guests at each table will pool their resources and bid on treats such as cheesecake, blackberry pie, lemon pie and Black Forest cake. That seems to fit the spirit of the evening.

“This free-wheeling play,” Menshew believes, “is wild, silly and a complete blast.”
