SEQUIM — Jazz vocalist Robin Bessier will bring her songs inside Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., for a no-cover-charge evening this Saturday.
Bessier, along with bassist Neil Conaty and pianist Dave Bristow, intends to stir together jazz standards and what she calls “slightly twisted takes of classic pop songs.”
The Wind Rose sets from 7 p.m. till 9 p.m. will also reveal some new material from Bristow and Bessier, plus originals from Bessier’s acclaimed CD “Other Side of Forever.”
Since the release of her album, the singer has enjoyed praise from jazz lovers such as AcousticMusic.com critic Mark S. Tucker, who wrote that she “has a voice that sparkles, bursting with joy, even when wistful.”
Bessier herself bows to her fellow musicians: Bristow, a composer originally from England, and Conaty, a New Yorker who began his career at 19, playing beside greats such as Ella Fitzgerald.
In performance, these men “are smoking hot,” she says. “When they get together, the music is more than the sum of the parts.”
