WEEKEND: The Association to bring classic tunes to Port Angeles stage tonight

NOTE: “Today” and “tonight” refer to Friday, April 17.

PORT ANGELES — The 1960s band that brought such hits as “Windy,” “Along Comes Mary” and “Never My Love” will associate itself with a Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts Foundation audience in Port Angeles tonight.

The Association, with two original members and an aggregate that includes relatives of two deceased former members, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.

Advance tickets are available at Port Book and News in Port Angeles and Joyful Music Center in Sequim, as well as at http://tinyurl.com/PDN-Windy. Tickets also will be sold at the door.

Formed 50 years ago in California, The Association of today features two original members, Jim Yester and Jules Alexander, plus Jordan Cole, son of founding member the late Brian Cole, and Del Ramos, brother of the late Larry Ramos.

Bruce Pictor and Paul Holland round out the six-man band — ironically one of the titles of the group’s many hits.

A preview of tonight’s concert, including staff writer Charlie Bermant’s interview with Yester and Alexander, appeared in the Peninsula Daily News last Sunday and can be found at http://tinyurl.com/pdn-sixmanband.

The band’s official website is at www.theassociationwebsite.com.
