WEEKEND: Sequim Art Walk takes on passionate theme tonight (Friday)

Today and tonight signify Friday, Feb. 6.

SEQUIM — Tonight’s the night to dress in the February color theme — red, any shade — for the First Friday Art Walk, a free walkabout through downtown Sequim.

A range of galleries and shops will open from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. for art shows, refreshments, conversation and music, details about which can be found at www.SequimArtWalk.com.

In addition, the new Lavish Day Spa will start the evening with a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m.

Local artist, teacher and Art Walk organizer Renne Brock-Richmond encourages art lovers and would-be venues to contact her for participation information at 360-460-3023 or renne@uniqueasyou.com.

The coordinator of the walk since 2006, Brock-Richmond chooses theme colors each month, and invites people to dress or accessorize in that hue.

After February’s red/scarlet/rose theme, March 6 will bring green, April 3 pink and May 1 aqua.

A sampling of tonight’s attractions:

■ The Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., presents “Bright Days in February,” a fresh show featuring artists Mary Franchini and Sandra G. Kasper;

■ Lavish Day Spa, a new art walk venue at 115 N. Sequim Ave. has its 5 p.m. ribbon-cutting as well as a mural and other works by artist Jimbo Cutler;
