Calling all lovers of poetry, prose
PORT ANGELES — Writers and lovers of literature are invited to gather at The Loom, the lounge adjacent to Studio Bob, this Saturday evening.
There’s no cover charge for this event, titled Poetry & Prose, and all ages are welcome.
Those who attend can read their original poems and stories aloud or share other writing they admire, said organizer Merryn Welch.
Everyone is welcome to read, recite or listen beginning at 7 p.m.

Moog man Saturday
PORT TOWNSEND — Eric Lanzillotta, an experimental musician who uses Moog synthesizer gear almost exclusively, will offer an evening of live, analog electronic sound in downtown Port Townsend this Saturday.
Admission is free though donations will be accepted at Lanzillotta’s 7 p.m. performance at Studio 36, on the third floor of the Mount Baker Block building, 211 Taylor St.
With his Moog equipment, Lanzillotta seeks to create an immersive environment with slow timbral changes, long drones and low frequencies, which can be felt as much as heard.
For more about Saturday’s event, Lanzillotta’s first solo performance in more than five years, email studio_36@icloud.com.
Drag show at Bob’s on Oct. 25
PORT ANGELES — A Halloween-themed Drag Off, a competition among drag queens and kings, arrives next Saturday night, Oct. 25, at Studio Bob, and ringleader Richard Stephens said now is the time to sign up.
This performance art competition is open to all genders and identifications, while contestants must be 16 or older.
These drag performers lip-sync, dance and “dress up in a campy way,” added Stephens, who urges contestants to choose their music, polish their moves and contact him to set up a time to run through their acts at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St., in advance of the Drag Off.
“It is a perfect opportunity,” he said, to “take the stage to express yourself in a way that you might not normally do.”
To sign up and find out more, email Stephens at dramarex@gmail.com.
Centennial tiles
SEQUIM — Sequim centennial tiles are still available for painting.
Tiles are at Aglazing Art Studio, 207 W. First St., Port Angeles.
The cost is $10 to paint a 6-inch-by-6-inch tile. The studio will glaze and fire the tile, which will be incorporated into a public art display.
The location and type of display will be recommended to the City Council by the newly formed Arts Advisory Commission.
To date, more than 300 tiles have been completed, but the goal is to have at least 500 for the commemorative public art project.
