PORT TOWNSEND — Longtime Port Townsender and prize-winning writer Adrianne Harun has a new novel, and that’s cause for celebration this Sunday.
Harun will host a book-launch party and reading from A Man Came Out of a Door in the Mountain at 5:30 p.m. at the Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson St., where admission is free.
Her books will be available for purchase.
A Man Came Out of a Door in the Mountain has already garnered raves from critics and Harun’s fellow novelists.
Set in British Columbia
Set in rural British Columbia, it takes readers to the infamous Highway of Tears, “where girls, mostly Native, are vanishing from the side of the road,” according to the summary from Penguin, the publisher.
“Leo Kreutzer and his friends are barely touched by these disappearances until a series of enigmatic strangers arrive in their remote mountain town, beguiling and bewitching them.
“It seems as if the devil himself has appeared among them.”
This book is “mythical, magical and chillingly real . . . Adrianne Harun’s writing can hold you breathless,” adds Jess Walter, the Spokane-born author of Beautiful Ruins.
Harun, also the author of The King of Limbo, a short-story collection and finalist for the Washington Book Award, publishes her fiction, essays and book reviews in magazines such as The Sun.
With her new novel, she’ll tour the United States, giving readings from Portland, Ore., to Boston.
