WEEKEND: Port Townsend Gallery Walk on Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — Saturday evening’s Gallery Walk brings together art made of tin cans and bottle caps, images of Mexico and Admiralty Inlet — and an artist who has been gone for a while.

The participating galleries, open from 5:30 p.m. till 8 p.m. Saturday, also offer free refreshments during this monthly stroll. Some highlights:

■ The Bishop Victorian Hotel, 714 Washington St., has Joe Finnie’s “Reflected Light Images” plus JoAnne Heron’s “Portraits of the Market,” two collections of travel-fueled art.

■ Gallery 9, 1012 Water St., presents “Fields and Forests,” art by painter Doug Selley Byrd and maple wood sculptor Chuck Stern.

■ The Wine Seller, 1010 Water St., opens a show of paintings by Jeff Tocher, an artist who has been away from Port Townsend for two years.

His classic works such as “Otter Road,” along with new paintings, will be on view in the Wine Seller’s loft.

■ The Port Townsend Gallery, 715 Water St., showcases glinting tin art by Loran Scruggs and recycled wood art by David Haakenson.

■ Elevated Ice Cream, 631 Water St., features drawings and paintings by Martin David of Quilcene; David and his art cart will also be present downtown during the Gallery Walk.

■ The Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson St., hosts “Art and the Word,” a juried show of creations integrating the written word.

■ PT Shorts, Key City Public Theatre’s free series of short story readings, celebrates its 18th birthday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a gathering at the future Northwind Arts Center location at Quincy and Water streets.
