PORT ANGELES — If you’re into art, this should be a good weekend for you. Downtown’s Second Weekend gallery events are upon us, and there’s a brand-new activity added: a prize drawing for gift certificates at a slew of art venues.
To get into the running, take a walk around First, Front and Laurel streets as well as into The Landing mall and pick up your ticket at one of the locations listed below.
Have the ticket stamped, passport-like, at each venue, and finally drop it off at The Landing mall’s Landing Artists’ Studio. You’ll be eligible for a collection of $10 gift certificates good at downtown art spots.
As always on Second Weekend, a number of galleries are hosting new art exhibitions, serving refreshments and bringing artists and art lovers together. Here’s the lineup:
■ Bring Your Own Art, the biannual show open to artists of all ages and levels at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St., opens Saturday evening, so organizer Bob Stokes is accepting entries today from noon till 7 p.m.
To participate, bring up to three works to Studio Bob along with the titles, artists’ names and contact information and a bit about the art and its maker.
The entry fee is $5 per piece, and more information can be had by phoning Stokes at 415-990-0457.
The Bring Your Own Art display opens with a reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Studio Bob, where the adjacent Loom bar will be open, too.
Art lovers also can come see the show between noon and 3 p.m. Sunday.
■ The Heatherton Gallery, on the ground floor of The Landing mall at 115 E. Railroad Ave., will be open for a reception tonight from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. with this month’s featured artist.
The gallery will also be open from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. with refreshments Saturday.
■ The Landing Artists Studio, also on The Landing’s ground floor, presents Sequim artist Janie Brackney’s pen-and-ink works, including many decorated in steampunk fashion with high heels and women’s faces.
The studio will be open for Second Weekend both today and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
■ Harbor Art, 110 E. Railroad Ave., is a local artists’ cooperative showcasing a variety of assemblage, glass, jewelry, purses, pottery, paintings and photography.
An artists’ reception is set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
