Special events across the North Olympic Peninsula offer ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day this weekend.

Downtown Affair
PORT ANGELES — Shops will offer sales, refreshments, giveaways and special events during A Downtown Affair today and Saturday.
The specials will be offered during regular business hours.
Some of the 25 participating shops will offers drawing for roses and free samples of chocolate and other treats.
Among special events are an anti-Valentine’s Day party at Bar N9NE, a “vintage photo booth” at Brocante, a valentine card-making contest and sale at Fiddleheads, a singles mixer at Metta Room, demonstrations of drones and helicopters at Pacific Rim & Hobby, and a Valentine’s Day Prom at Red Lion Hotel.

Sassy Kat soiree
PORT ANGELES — Sassy Kat Salon and Boutique, 105 E. First St., will host its first annual Valentine’s Day Soiree this weekend.
The shop will offer champagne or nonalcoholic sparkling cider and Valentine’s Day-themed cupcakes between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. today and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.
Free goodie bags will be offered while supplies last. Door prizes are planned.

World Sound Healing
PORT ANGELES — A “sonic valentine,” a message of healing to the world, will be offered at Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 73 Howe Road, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
There’s no charge to join the World Sound Healing Day event.
“We will begin with ringing of the crystal bowls at 11:11 a.m.,” said Sophia Engkvist, a coordinator of the gathering, which coincides with similar events around the world.
Singing, chanting and drumming will follow, then at noon, “we will join the global ‘ah,’ followed by a period of silent meditation,” Engkvist said.
“We will end with a sound healing using crystal and Tibetan bowls, digeridoo, Native flutes, gong, bells, chimes and voices.
“Bring small drums and rattles, water to keep hydrated and blankets, mats and pillows,” she added.
An optional potluck will end the event.

SEQUIM
SARC cardio party
SEQUIM — A Valentine’s Day Dance Fitness Cardio Party is planned at the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Admission to the center at 610 N. Fifth Ave. will be $5 for adults and free for children.
Proceeds will benefit SARC children’s swim team scholarships.
Zumba, salsa, bokwa and hot hula are planned in “an old-school dance party.”
An after-party will be held at The Oasis Bar & Grill, 301 E. Washington St., at 7 p.m.

SEQUIM — The Sequim Deaf Coffee House will host a Valentine’s Day event from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The celebration will be in the Geneva Hall of Sequim Community Church, 960 N. Fifth Ave.

Burlesque show
PORT TOWNSEND — The Ready Right Now Players will present a burlesque-themed variety show at American Legion Post 26, 209 Monroe St., at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Admission will be $10 at the door for the 21-and-older event.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
Music, singing, dancing, comedy and fashion are planned.
Featured will be Louie and Selena, the Sisters of Poor Taste, NYMP Leigh (Anami), the Ready Right Now Players and the Wandering Wardrobe’s models.
After the show, Brother Townsend will play the Valentine’s Ball.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Uptown Pub & Grill, 1016 Lawrence St., will host a DJ Valentine’s Day dance and a benefit for Global Visionaries from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Party Club, featuring Ruby Fitch and DJ Jarrod Paul, is scheduled.
Global Visionaries is a youth-led organization for creating socially and environmentally conscious global leaders.
Quimper dance
PORT TOWNSEND — The Quimper Grange Square Dance and Social will celebrate Valentine’s Day with live music Saturday.
Admission to the grange hall at 1219 Corona St. will be $5 for adults, free for those 16 and younger.
Dancing will begin at 7:30 p.m. with live music by Airstream Traveler and dance caller Dave Thielk.
Singles and couples are welcome.
All dances are taught. Experience is not necessary.
Dancers are encouraged to bring their own water bottle and snacks to share with other dancers if inclined.

‘Newlywed Game’
FORKS — The Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road, will host the Return of the Newlywed Game on Saturday.

CLALLAM BAY
Library valentines
CLALLAM BAY — The Clallam Bay Library will host its third annual “After Hours @ the Library” valentine fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Admission is free, although the library suggests a donation of $5 per person for the fundraiser at the library at 16990 state Highway 112.
Guests can watch friends and neighbors play a local version of “The Not-So-Newlywed Game,” discover new reading material with “Blind Date with a Book” or try their luck at a Chinese auction featuring donations from area merchants.
The Clallam Bay Friends of the Library will provide refreshments, including chocolate and other treats.
Proceeds will support youth programs at the library, including the annual Summer Reading Program.
