PORT TOWNSEND — The player who’s not only a member of the San Francisco Christmas Jug Band but also the frontman for Those Darn Accordions is on his way to town for a “Holiday Hi-Jinks” show this Sunday night.
Paul Rogers will join a flock of local musicians at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St., for this cabaret-style concert presented by the nonprofit Key City Public Theatre and the Toolshed Sound Lab studio of Port Townsend.
Admission is $15 to the 7:30 p.m. show, which will have Rogers alongside guitar man George Rezendes, drummer Tom Svornich, bassist Dirk Anderson and fiddler Jon Parry.
Rogers promises this will be a night given over to humorous holiday songs: “Santa Don’t Do It (Shave on Christmas Eve),” “Plant a Santa,” “Santa Lost a Ho” and “Rockin’ the Nativity Scene” are all on the agenda.
These songs come from the San Francisco Christmas Jug Band’s records such as “Mistletoe Jam,” “Uncorked” and “Rhythm on the Roof,” which have been called, among other things, holiday blues-busters.
