NOTE: “Today” and “tonight” refer to Friday, Dec. 11.
CHIMACUM — Shirley, the partridge everybody crows about around Christmas time, is facing obstacles this year.
The Seven Swans A-Swimming flew south for the winter. The French Hens are really two hens and a stubborn rooster. The Calling Birds can’t keep their phone lines straight, and the Pipers Piping are nowhere to be found.
Shirley is not sure that she can keep the tradition going. She might revisit her pear-tree situation, and make it into something new for 2015.
So goes the story in “The 12 Days of Christmas,” the Chimacum High School Drama Performance Club’s show opening tonight for a two-weekend run.
This play resembles the song, but it is its own animal, noted Ellie Spitzbart, Chimacum High’s drama director.
She and her students will round up the various characters in “The 12 Days” for performances at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, tonight through Dec. 19.
Then there are two matinees, set for 5:30 p.m. this Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20. Doors open half an hour before curtain time at the Chimacum High School auditorium, 91 West Valley Road.
The show is family friendly, Spitzbart emphasizes, with admission at $5 for adults and teens and free for children ages 12 and younger.
Those who want to attend several or all shows can buy passes for $10.
“We hope to share this heart-warming winter play with our greater community,” said Spitzbart.
