PORT TOWNSEND — The 25th Palm Sunday Jesus Parade will be at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Participants will meet at the US Bank parking lot at 1239 Water St. — next to the ferry dock — at 2:30 p.m.
Short parade
The short parade will begin promptly at 3 p.m. with a Port Townsend police escort, said Dennis Feten, one of the organizers.
Refreshments will follow the parade at Adams Street Park on Water Street.
Last year’s parade had participants from Port Townsend, Quilcene, Sequim, Port Angeles and Poulsbo, Feten said.
Creative entries
“During these past years, we have seen a variety of creative entries in the parade, including a donkey with a person dressed up like Jesus, music groups, antique cars, horses, banners and motorcycles,” Feten said in a news release.
“We encourage anything that will honor Jesus and his walk into Jerusalem some 2,000 years ago.”
Participants carry palms, balloons and banners.
Music will be provided by Pastor Jonathan Simonson of Sequim Valley Foursquare Church.
Jesus’ walk into Jerusalem has come to be known as the beginning of Holy Week, which culminates in Easter.
