QUILCENE — Two members from the Carpe Diem String Quartet, Chas Wetherbee and Korine Fujiwara, will join seasoned Olympic Music Festival players for two “Concerts in the Barn” this weekend.
Along with festival founder Alan Iglitzin, pianist Julio Elizalde, cellist Jennifer Culp and clarinetist-pianist Teddy Abrams, the Carpe Diem pair will offer a festival within a festival. It’s all about Mozart, with works for piano, clarinet and string quartet in a varied program.
The music will start at 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at the Olympic Music Festival farm, 7360 Center Road, and tickets range from $18 to $33.
In casual, jeans-and-T-shirts concerts, the musicians play inside a restored dairy barn, while listeners sit inside or outside on the lawn beneath the trees.
The farm gate opens at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday for those who want to stroll and picnic; barn doors open at 1 p.m.
This is weekend No. 3 of the Olympic Music Festival, whose concerts continue each Saturday and Sunday till Sept. 1 with guest artists from across North America.
