PORT ANGELES — A light-up hula-hoop dance, music, wine, pedicures, live music and special sales will brighten downtown streets from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
A group of 26 stores will conduct sales with music and special events to encourage visitors to “shop-hop” the downtown area and introduce new and expanded stores.
“Novemberfest: A Downtown Revival” is a grass-roots effort among retailers that at one time involved only a couple of store owners working together.
It has grown as new stores join, said Haley Croxford, owner of Moss at 120 W. First St.
“We’re back on the upturn,” Croxford said.
“This will give local shoppers a fresh perspective on what is downtown.”
Examples of new businesses are Mystery Decals at 108 E. First St., a novelty store that offers locally inspired custom shirts and hats, and Turnip the Beet, a fresh-food cafe that opened at the end of last month at 130 E. Front St.
Next Door Gastropub has expanded with the Next Door Annex, 117½ W. First St., a bottle store.
Anime Kat — an anime, manga and gaming store — will show off its expanded gaming room at 114 W. First St.
Fiddleheads at 126 W. First St. is under new management.
Many of the stores will offer live music or DJs, Croxford said.
“It’s up to each store to come up with entertainment and sales,” she said.
Moss will offer a do-it-yourself screen printing craft project from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
InSpired Gifts at 124 W. First St. will offer free metallic temporary tattoos from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Kula Yoga at 128 E. Front St. will host a free “Hoop Flow Yoga” — yoga with hula hoops — at 1 p.m. in the studio and a community hula-hoop dance with music and light-up hula-hoops from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at a community hoop tent on First Street.
Performers
Scott Sullivan and Casey Northern will perform at 9 p.m. at Next Door Gastropub, 113 W. First St.
Moxie at 110 N. Laurel St. will offer wine tastings and complimentary pedicures from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Easy Street Coffee & Tea House, which opened at the beginning of the year at 128 W. First St., will host an open mic from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Metta Room, 132 E. Front St., will offer $5 off Saturday’s burlesque show admission with a receipt from a Novemberfest purchase.
Skincare Suites Spa, 106 N. Lincoln St., will offer certificates for one-hour massages for $35.
Sales and special events also are planned at Alley Cat, Angeles Brewing Supplies, Barhop Brewing, Bar N9ne, Bay Variety, Brocante, Family Shoe Store, Odyssey Bookshop, Olympic Stained Glass, Olympic Stationers, PA Antique Mall, Red Lion restaurant and bar, and Udjat Beads.
