PORT TOWNSEND — After more than a month of renovations, the Northwind Arts Center is making its debut this weekend with a fresh show in its new home at the Waterman & Katz Building, 701 Water St.
First comes an artists’ talk with Suzanne Lamon and Leslie Schnick on the show, “Celestial Dreams & Terrestrial Abstractions,” at 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free to the talk and to the grand reopening reception Saturday evening from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
“Schnick’s three-dimensional abstractions and Lamon’s 2-D imaginings will offer an interplay of sky and forest, moon and ocean, mountains and clouds,” according to Northwind’s news release.
The show will stay on display through March 1 at Northwind, which is open with free admission from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.
The Northwind Arts Center and the Port Townsend Library are also inviting visual artists to submit original works to “Book Inspired,” the show to open March 6 at the arts center.
This exhibition is for art based on or inspired by works of literature in any genre. The submission deadline is March 2; art will be accepted for jurying between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. that day.
