PORT TOWNSEND — “Water Babies” and a pair of mosaic stilettos are among the highlights of “Small Expressions,” the show up at the Northwind Arts Center’s new downtown space.
The juried exhibition, in Northwind’s gallery in the Waterman-Katz Building at 701 Water St., presents work by 89 artists from across Jefferson, Clallam, Kitsap and King counties, all free for the admiring.
The nonprofit art center, staffed by volunteers, is open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.
This weekend is the time to see the show, as Small Expressions — 170 works no larger than 15 inches in any dimension — is open just through Monday, Dec. 29.
Juror Teresa Verraes awarded the best of show prize to James S. Adams of Kingston for his Venetian plaster painting “Victoria,” and chose Sandra Offutt’s painting “Water Babies 1,” Margie McDonald’s “Palmetto” sculpture, Naoko Morisawa’s “Gravitation,” and Diane Haddon’s “Behind the 8 Ball” for merit awards. McDonald and Offutt are Port Townsenders while Haddon is from Suquamish and Morisawa from Lynwood.
