SEQUIM — North Olympic Peninsula residents can plan an energy-efficient new home or upgrade their current home at the 17th annual Building, Remodeling & Energy Expo this weekend.
The expo, sponsored by the North Peninsula Building Association, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Expo activities will include demonstrations and workshops, as well as 80 vendors with pro-duct samples.
Vendors include building and trade professionals, crafters, architects, designers, wholesalers, retailers, landscapers or providers to the building, remodeling and energy trades.
Membership list
The NPBA membership list of local licensed, insured, bonded and vetted industry professionals also will be available to guests.
“It takes the guesswork out of who you are dealing with,” said Diana Johnson, interim executive director of the NPBA.
Experts will be available to discuss and share their knowledge of their industries, Johnson said.
“That includes what’s going on with the loan industry right now. It has been a volatile market, but it is steadier now,” she said.
Demonstrations of skills and techniques by experts in their fields will be ongoing each day, she said.

■ 11:15 a.m. — “Energy Savings.”
■ 12:15 p.m. — “Transitional Times: Your Money, Your Real Estate and Your Life.”
■ 1:15 p.m. — “How to Select a Builder.”
■ 3:15 p.m. — The Captain Joseph House Foundation.
Sunday
■ 10:15 a.m. — The Captain Joseph House Foundation.
■ 11:15 a.m. — “Ductless Heat Pumps: Everything You Need to Know.”
■ 12:15 p.m. — “Design Build vs. Architecture.”
■ 1:15 p.m. — “Solar Economics: What’s the Bottom Line?”
■ 2:15 p.m. — “Transitional Times: Your Money, Your Real Estate & Your Life.”
Visitors to the expo can enter to win shopping sprees at Angeles Millwork and Lumber Co. or Hartnagel Building Supply.
Drawings will be held Saturday and Sunday, with a $250 gift certificate to each store awarded daily.
The Sequim Softball Boosters will run a concessions booth for food and drinks.
For mudslide victims
All proceeds earned by the boosters group during the expo will be donated to the Oso Mudslide Relief Fund, said Karen Lewis, organizer for the boosters concession booth.
